Tim Kirby
June 4, 1953 - December 21, 2019
Tim Kirby was a master modeler, competing at a high level at the IPMS Nationals for many years, and great mentor to so many other modelers. He was always willing to share his knowledge with other and help them develop sharper looking models.
Tim was born June 4, 1953 and grew up in Omak, Washington. He was an accomplished long distance runner in high school and pursued a career in with Fred Meyer managing produce. He moved to Alaska in 1971 and attended Lathrop High School. He spent time in Honolulu, Hawaii and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Besides his avid passion for making scale models, he was also a regional judge for the National Physique Committee (NPC), the largest amateur bodybuilding organization in the United States.
After retiring, he was an ardent modeler, attending many IPMS Nationals and often wining in car and vehicle categories. His attention to detail and mastery of finishing techniques were legendary.
