He moved to Lake View, Oregon, and then, a year later, to Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1982, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, becoming a Budget and Finance Officer until his retirement in May, 2003.
Don stayed busy, working on scale model guns, military weapons, tanks and boats. He was a member of the Anchorage Scale Modeling Club, where he had many close friends. He also had many friends at Hobby Craft and at Anchorage House of Hobbies in Anchorage, Alaska.
Don moved from Anchorage, in May of 2011, to Mansfield, Texas, to be with his first love, his wife, Toni M Moore. They were together again after 35 years apart. After a month, Don found out he had cancer. Even though he was sick, his plans where to go home to North Dakota to see his family.
