Enjoy a few photos of another year's successful model contest. Thank you all who helped make it happen. Big thank you to President Paul and Secretary for Life Joe for their constant attention to keeping the doors open and so many other details you attended to.

As well, big thanks to Anchorage House of Hobbies for their support of gift cards for division champ winners. Really appreciate the sponsorship!

The Last Alaska Hobby Shop

posted Jan 22, 2017, 12:52 AM by Anchorage Webmaster

The largest state in the union just lost 50% of it's hobby shops. After nearly 40 years in operation, Anchorage's Hobbycraft closed it's doors this month. We were very fortunate to have had two hobby shops in our town for so long. Many towns across the country of a similar size weren't so lucky for so long. We'll miss Tim and the great selection of kits and supplies at Hobbycraft. We do wish Tim all the best in his new adventure-retirement!

Savor and support the Last Alaska Hobby Shop, House of Hobbies in Spenard. Sure, Michael's sells a few Revell/Monogram kits, the basic Testors tools, and occasionally has an Iwata Neo on sale, but that just isn't the same as a well stocked hobby shop that we all know and love. In order for them to exist, we need to support them. With our gloomy economic forecast in Alaska, this is even more important.

We are now officially on Facebook.  Like it or not, but it seems a like a way to reach some folks out there.
we have two places on Facebook. One is a an official page. Great for pushing updates on our club. Check it out here:

The other is a closed group for members. This is more like a forum and is a great place to share and post our current projects and talk about whatever. Like we don't see enough of each other weekly!?!?! :)

Good times were had by all who attended.  Copious quantities of food and beverage plus mild, sunny weather made for a pleasant afternoon. Thanks again Mark for hosting us at your place and inviting members of the Alaska Territorial Cavalry (Motorized) to join us with a nice collection of historical vehicles.

Great turnout, so nice to spend time with our fellow modelers.
